  • Primary Job Function

    The Department Coordinators primary responsibility is for leadership of the therapy team including management of the day-to-day operations of the therapy department, the supervision of therapy staff, and the coordination of RUG management. The Department Coordinator exhibits high performance in Vertis core values, leadership, team development, customer service, and department operations.  The department coordinator works closely with the Regional Manager to ensure that Vertis standards are maintained and that available resources are well utilized.

    Primary Responsibilities

    •Ensures that rehabilitation services are provided in compliance with Vertis and facility policies and procedures; State, Federal, and professional organization regulatory standards and guidelines.
    •Coordinates resident screening (PT/OT/SLP) programs.
    •Serves as advocate for meeting the rehabilitation needs of residents.
    •Coordinates attendance at care plan and departmental meetings.
    •Acts as a liaison between therapy department, administrator, and nursing staff.
    •Ensures accurate and timely month-end billing.
    •Coordinates therapist schedules and arranges prn staffing as needed.

    Communicates PT/OT/SLP schedules and changes to administration and nursing staff.

    •Coordinates the execution of the Restorative Program with nursing staff and therapy department.
    •Prepares the Rehab Department for a deficiency free State Survey.
    •Completes Vertis guide to survey twice annually.
    •Trains staff in Vertis and facility policies and procedures.
    •Assists in identifying therapy needs of resident population.
    •Effectively communicates pertinent information from Vertis management and facility management to therapy team.
    •Assists Regional Manager in Performance Reviews, applicant interview process, and disciplinary actions.
    •Assists Regional Manager in the orientation of new employees and contract therapists.
    •Coordinates scheduling with the nursing staff
    •Answers phones and handles customers in a professional and courteous manner.

              Facilitates the orderly and efficient provision of patient car

              •Maintains awareness of change in patient census and programs.

    •Follows established procedures pertaining to the care of equipment and supplies including completion of cleaning logs.
     

     Minum of 1 year experience.  Bachelors degree preferred
